Glistening Waves, Untamed Pathways
A nature lover’s hidden paradise, Casa Chameleon at Mal Pais is an adults-only hotel tucked away in a remote part of the Costa Rican jungle. Accessible only by a 4×4 road, each of the 10 private pool villas are completely unique in character, sharing a deep respect for the native culture while also promising uninterrupted tranquility. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the simple pleasures of this magical location, whether it’s discovering hidden paths or unwinding during a spa treatment.
Other options for mobility include access to an ATV, which are common on the peninsula, or allowing us to arrange a rental car, taxi or private driver.
An Homage to Rustic Elegance
When we first set our eyes on this property, we were swept off of our feet, left breathless by its lush and verdant beauty. Our task called for an unparalleled vision of possibility, built upon our strive to create a hidden retreat that’s in perfect balance with nature. We decided that the best way to accomplish this was to let the outside in. Walls were removed and either left open for a seamless connection with the neighboring jungle or glass was used so that panoramic ocean views remained intact. The end result is Casa Chameleon at Mal Pais, a hotel that flirts harmoniously with creation and its many contours, while offering a place of escape and privacy. Wildlife is abundant in this region, and we often find ourselves in the humbling presence of the beautiful creatures that inhabit this voraciously wild landscape.
